I totally agree with Candi!! My glider Micah is the sweetest little guy. I researched alot before deciding to get him. And I advise EVERYBODY to do this. And, as with Candi, my cat bites me more than Micah ever has. I don't understand what possessed you CHRIS to tell people these sweet little creatures are mean......

: I find this not only so upsetting that it makes me want to vomit all over myself, but also plain and simply misleading and biased!!! Any pet can be a "fad" for people who purchase it w/o considering the time, effort, money, etc that it will require... this goes for gliders AS WELL AS hamsters, mice ( god I would know, have you ever had over 100 at one time simply because you thought two were cute?? I have! ), ferrets, and yes even cats or dogs... how many homeless kitties and puppies are put to sleep EVERYDAY because people got them since they were cute and cuddley, not thinking of the time and responsiblity it would take to raise them properally. Before you purchase ANY pet at all you MUST think VERY carefully of what you are getting into. I found this page to be of the utmost help in forming my decision to purchase my gliders. I first visited over a year ago when I was considering getting one, after reading about all of their problems, work, time, effort etc etc etc I decided it wasn't the best time for me to get involved in what would be at least a 15 yr relationship with a pet. Then once I graduated college and had more time for myself and my pets I came here again, and by reading these posts and other helpful web pages I decided I was ready to add some gliders into my life. Although they have their moments ( what pet doesn't )and mine aren't very tame as of yet, I love them with all my heart, I would NEVER say I had ANY regrets, simply because I took the time to look into their ownership and was prepared completely. I would not advice everyone or even most people to get a glider, many people would be better off with a hamster or rabbit etc, but for those who are willing and wanting to put the time, effort, and LOVE into them.... you have my blessings and I'm sure you will love them as much as I do.

: Gliders like any animal can have an "attitude" with you, I know my normally loveable huge baby of a rottweiler ( all 125lbs of her ) can also have her bad days and WATCH OUT... and my normally sweet purring kitties can get worked up, or just overly playful and bite or scratch VERY HARD... I know I personally have many scars on my arms and hands from pets, no these are not from gliders ( I've only had them a few wks ) but from my "sweet/innocent" kitty cats and kittens, from pet parrots or birds, and anyone whos had a puppy thats teething will know OUCH those little teeth hurt also. My point here is that ANY animal can scratch you or bite you, and any animal that is scared or mistreated will do this... but a glider who is given respect and love is NOT going to attack you "for the fun of it" these animals are NOT violent by nature and will only resort to biteing when given no other escape ( why do you think they can crab so loud, its to scare you away so they dont have to resort to more ) I'm sorry to go on and on but this mans posts in the past have annoyed the hell out of me, and this time I couldn't sit idely by and watch as he scared those who might otherwise make wonderful glider owners with his over exagerations and simply put LIES.

: If you want a pet simply because you think its "cute or fluffy or exotic or whatever" DONT GET IT, glider or puppy... a pet is a commitment that when treated properally will give you years of enjoyment. My chinchilla could be considered a "fad" pet, so could my prairie dog... ( and let me tell you, a bite from a glider is NOTHING compared to a ticked off prairie dog LOL ) but they are MY family and OUR beloved pets... so before you go around preaching to people on the horrors of glider ownership, own one!
