: When I got my glider I forgot to take one thing into consideration: I go camping in Canada every summer for 4-5 weeks. I need advice on how best to care for my baby. Here's the prob:

: He's too little to be able to maintain his own body heat. I had him in a pouch the other day for about 2 hours, and when I took him out he was so cold that he was asleep and completely disoriented. The pouch is polar fleece and it was about 70 degrees where I was, with a few pieces of me-scented fabric inside but he almost froze to death. (he's currently 3-1/2 mos. old, by the way.)

: There is no electricity on the island where we stay, so I can't hook up a heat rock or anything.

: The temperature sometimes gets down to 30 or 40 in the middle of the night, with high winds. (He will be inside the tent, though.)

: Last, he is very attached to me, and would very likely die if I left him with someone else that he didn't know.

: I'm completely stumped. I think I wanted him so much when I got him that I just conveniently forgot what a problem it might present, but now I fear for the little guy's welfare. Any suggestions? Does anyone know of any good, reliable battery-operated heat source that doesn't eat batteries like crazy?

: Thanks a bunch for any info...

Kim,
My sister, who also has a glider, is planning a trip to Germany. She e-mailed a breeder on the web to ask for advice, and they sent her names of people who board gliders in her area. Has anyone heard of this? This might be a good solution if it is available where you live...
