It's not really that bad at all. I have a glider and live in California. I got it from a friend, so I did'nt exactly mean bring one into this state illegally. The glider police are not gonna come knocking on your door. If You can drive across stateline into Nevada after finding a BREEDER and bring it back across that way. Don't fly, there is too much of a chance of you getting caught and that poor little critter getting wisked away and maybe destroyed. Ask around your neighborhood vets if they have cared for gliders before you bring it home. But don't leave any clue as to who you are just in case. Be very careful and smart. Then you too may own a glider and still live in the sunshine state. Not that I recommend getting a Sugar glider at all, but that's a whole nother' story. Also,I don't know why they don't allow certain animals into California, although the standard reason is eco system issues. Which makes a lot of sense why they are not allowed in Hawaii either. (Hawaii has had a lot of problems with plants and animals being intorduced. The end result being that native flaura, fauna and wildlife has been damaged.) California's has a lot of fruit crops also, so maybe that is why they would not want them getting loose here and breeding prolifically everywhere. Gliders in Napa, now that would be a travesty. They might get loose and run amok! Imagine that gliders running amok! he he! They do that. Hope this helps :)
