Sounds like you are off to a good start so far. You might want to try and let her out in a small room, like the bathroom. Sit in there with a good book and let her run around. she will check out everything, including you. REMEMBER to keep the toilet lid down during the day and night to. Gliders cannot swin, and an open toilet is a very big danger to her. As for the biting, if you don't react eventually she will quit. When she realizes that it has no effect on you. So try very hard to not flinch or pull back, take the bite.

Bonding, takes time and patience...you are doing great so far. Keep it up....

: : First I would like to say hello to everyone. I just bought my first SG 3 days ago. She is 6 months. Is that too old? She was great with the pet store owner and seems sociable. I carry her around in a pouch in my shirt all day. As soon as I put my hand in the cage to pet her, she runs up my arm and tries to excape. Last night she jumped off me, onto the bed, and hid under there for 4 hours. Is this normal? I was so scared! When I finally lured her out she just wanted to sleep. She doesn't seem to have any interest in staying on me or getting attention until time for bed. SHould I let her out again? Also, she likes to bite...hard. Any chance she get. I am beginning to feel a little discouraged. Is there any way to correct this behavior? Any advice will help. Thanks.

: Arianna,

: Please don't get discouraged, this takes time. She is going to need time to adjust to the new surroundings. You are doing a good thing by keeping her with you in your pocket, that way she will get her use to your scent. You have to remember she is a very small animals and you are a giant to her, so until she can learn to trust you she will probably be unsure of things. I experienced the same things with my Gliders when I first brought them home. Be patient the reward in the end is defenitly worth it.

: You should check out some of the web sights on Gliders and read sections on bondng, they are very helpful...

: Best of luck to you, Tammy :-)
