Baking soda is one of the safest, best things for neutralizing odors. It works beautifully on not only the cage, but the branches, toys, and sleeping quarters too. I put 1/4 cup in a spray bottle with 2 cups water to spray down the whole cage, then scrub with a sponge and rinse. The branches can be soaked in the tub with 3/4 to 1 cup. I also add 1/4 cup to the water when I hand wash their pouches.

: I've made a mistake. I was gettin real tired of the "animal smell" the cage had -- even though I shower it once a month with anti-bact soap and hot water -- so I broke down and used Fabreeze.

: I know, I know, bad bad bad, but it worked.

: Well, I dont want to do that again unless I really really have to, because I realize its not a good thing to use as a regular means to clean the cage. Pleaze be assured that I do/have NOT use this stuff on ANYTHING else that belongs to them, just the cage.

: Okay here's the question -- What do you all use to give the cage a really good SAFE cleaning???

: Suggestions PLEEEEZE. I know we've been through all this before, but it may bear repeating -0- especially for new parents and us rather dense sorts:-(
