I have found they generally hiss when they are annoyed but when I have my Baybe out and Smokey is in the cage she will hiss till I let him out too. Also when the two of them are out and 1 is going in one direction and the other is staying put. the one that is moving will stop and hiss at the other almost to say COME HERE. I have also noticed Baybe will do it when i walk by here cage in the morning she will poke her head up and start clicking. or chattering, i say hello Baybe and walk over to the paper. (she hates the paper so I read it before I put her in my pocket.) She will proceed to hiss like a snake with a cold hist hist hist type sound
I figured they are communicating.. many times meaning to say come here..
