My males smell sweet at times too. But when they are in a mating friendzy, they smell more musky. Most of the time their is no smell. But if you continue to wash the area's that they sent the smell will never go away, because they will keep marking it. They probably smelled for the first few weeks after we got them. I wash their cage with vinegar and water once a week, and keep the paertowels changed daily. I did notice that if I washed the cage with a bleach solution or other cleaner, they would rescent mark it.

Hope this helps...

: Well, I didnt think he smelled bad. It was an odor, but it wasnt pungent like a cat. Kinda had a floral smell. Yes it was a male.

: : Good for you. I still have to wait the whole summer for mine. I am sure that it feels all that much better to finally get one after a longer wait. As far as names go I think that is going to be the hardest part. I right now am trying to think of some good ones and can't. I know their is a site with a list of names but don't know where that is. well enjoy your new little one and hope you do well.

: : Just to ask, I know all animals smell some but gliders are relatively clean. Did it smell that much. Was it a male???

: : Just curious. Thanks and have fun with your glider.

: : : Just got my sugar glider! She is crawling on my head right now.

: : : She is 2 months out of the pouch. She is my second, first one had to be sold because my mom said it stunk, but no more mom! Waahooo. I still need a name for her.
