Subject: slowing down breeding
Posted by Katie on April 15, 1999 at 18:32:54:

I have a question to those with groups of breeding gliders. I am a new hobby breeder (in the process of getting liscencing.) I have a male and a female that are expecting their first born.
I have heard somewhere before (it might have been Macphearson's book) that keeping two or three female gliders and a male together will slow down the rate at which they breed.
I know that some breeders let their pairs breed as much as they want to and say that they have never had health problems, but I have a strong gut feeling that tells me this is not healthy for the females.
My pair are very emotionally attached and I don't want to separate them, which is why I want to see if there is any truth to the speculation that a small group will breed at a slower rate than a solitary pair.
