It had to happen eventually another Jane apart from myself. Will every one please remember that myself (glider owner of many years , glidernet web master and author of the warning page) generally do not give out my email address. Of course many people would say you could tell by my normally grouchy attitude :-)

: : : I love to play with my sugar glider but her nails
: : : have become so sharp that I cant stand to pick her
: : : up and let her run around on me. Is there anyway
: : : that I can clip them or do something so they arent
: : : as sharp? Please e-mail me with your answers.

: : I had the same problem... so I tried clipping his nails, and he crabbed at me. So I asked my vet to do it, and she wouldn't, unless it was absolutley nesecary cus she didnt want to hurt him. So, for awhile I just dealth with it... but last week my hands were so torn up... so I did it in the early evening and I put a little 'blanket' of his over him, held him down and pulled out one foot at a time. He was very good the whole time, except he pulled his feet back a few times. The last nail... I clipped it and it bled. I comepletely fliped out. So I took a que tip and got all the blood. It seemed like a lot, but it really wasn't that much. I made sure he was okay, and Iv been checking on it every dayu since then, and it seems okay.

it
: : I have a question, though... if that happens the next time I try to clip his nails... what should I do? Can I use neosporin or something of the sort... Or just make sure it's clean etc?

: I've read that a little flour dusted on the bleeding nail will stop the bleeding. Just PLEASE be sure that the flour is sanitary -- been kept in an air tight container, no discolorations, etc. Have fun!
