Glaucoma (from what I have been told) is not the disease term for gliders born with/have developed sight loss.

Actually, I have not heard a 'name' for it at all... but it DOES happen. Some joeys are born with white/creamy colored eyes. I have been told that this is due to a high fat content in the nursing mother's diet... as gliders are (almost) fat intolerant.
I have a female who has white deposits within her eye. Instead of a black pupil, its off-white. I questioned the previous owner and was told that it developed over time, that she didnt have it when he purchased her... BUT avocados were a staple of her diet for the year or so that he had her.
None of her babies have shown any signs of this affliction... (her diet has dramatically changed since I brought her home.) and her 'disease' has not progressed at all... and Im hesitant on hoping to 'make her better'... she can see... in fact, Gaby chases crickets & catches them better than any of my others.

I have consulted with my vet, who has asked others... and the only thing (without an autopsy) we can come up with are... fat deposits.

Hope this helped, if just a little.

Vickie
