I was only opening a discussion, As far as body fat playing a role in it, it does, But I have noticed that with the colder temps comes a little more body fat, but it is quickly loss with the warmer temps. I too understand what you are saying as far as the ones not knowing what to look for, The good rule of thumb is .. what you would have your infant child out in. so that being the case the nest boxes also must be warm and the drafts must be elliminated. As far as diets , well I also believe in feeding mine through the day, but then again mine are AE, so they eat when I eat.. There are breeders that do however lower their temps in order to give their female breeders a break, as with other things, there are many variables involved..
