There are two types of galvanized wire - galvanized before or after welding. One of these (I think before welding) has been known to cause problems in birds that chew on the wire. The reason most people get vinyl coated wire is because it won't oxidize from the urine and is MUCH easier to clean plus a lot quieter when the gliders jump on it. :
