Was it kind of like a clicking? Gliders do
make this noise quite a bit, it seems when
they are getting drowsy and falling asleep.
Try making the same sound back to them
and sometimes you can get them to answer
you. I wonder if the smacking lips noise is
related to being in the pouch and sucking a nipple-
it seems to be a comfort sound.

As for the ssssss sound, who knows, gliders
make a lot of different quiet noises to themselves
and eachother. I think they each have a varied
vocabulary that they use.
