Ok, Im usually quiet on the 'diet' issue... BUT
I asked (the vet) about Cheerios as a treat for my gliders and the response was 'absolutely not.'

The reasons not only included the additives, preservatives and processed sugar (in HoneyNut)...
but also a related case study that was performed on a Senegal Parrot.
The owner gave the bird Cherrios as a treat without considering the simple fact that they expand when they are wet... to at least double the size when dry!
Sometime after eating the Cherrios, the bird proceeded to get itself a drink of water... and whoola! The Cherrios expanded in the birds belly, eventually causing its death.

Such a sad story... one I dont wish to read in a post here...
