I do not know that 1"x1/2" wire is the best for gliders, I simply looked at all the different gauges today "in person" and it looked the safest. There are others that gliders Probably wouldn't get out of, but it's the only one that's fool-proof.

As for the glider cage, I have heard many different dimensions. My choice was the All-Purpose Heavy duty 2'x2'x3'. I wanted something that was plenty big enough for Foster to romp in (he's all boy when he's in the mood to be) and also I wanted enough room incase I ever get a female to breed with him. To be honest, the main reason I got that instead of an 18" one is that I have a Wodent Wheel and I wanted to have plenty of space to hang it without seriously invading on his cage space.

I got a yard-stick out and was measuring, but I couldn't really get a picture of the size of it, so I used masking tape and measured out a 2'x2' box on the floor. Then standing the yard-stick up, I had the dimensions. It seems like for 1 glider that will be plenty. I certainly would get the bigger ones if I were going to ever entertain the notion of breeding more than two, but I live in a townhouse in which pets aren't allowed, so that's all the bigger I can really get for here. Of course someday I'll move, and maybe I'll get a bigger one.
Oh, and no one ever really explained the "powdered wire" thing to me. The guy at the pet store said it was a powdery coating on the wire (you can get it in white or black)and the powder is baked onto the cage. It liquifies, and then re-solidifies. It makes it easier to clean the cage, and easier on our babies' feet. Also, I've heard rumors that if a glider chews on galvanized wire it can make them sick. For the 2'x2'x3' cage the powdered coating was $35 extra. The guy said most sugar glider owners get black instead of white because the glider shows better through it. Oh, and one more thing (yes, i know I'm a blabbermouth...) the page lists the price for my cage as $95, but when I phoned she even double-checked and she said the price was actually $77. Good deal.

If anyone gets theirs before I do let me know how they work. It will likely take a good bit longer for UPS to get it to Pennsylvania than over there in Arizona or Texas. Jumpher, where are you?

Thanks,
Kim
