I have not had to remove joeys yet from their parents, but I do know that it was suggest to a friend of mine to remove them . Her's were 11 weeks at the time. If they are males, the father would soon start tp oush him out and you would want to remove him before any trouble starts.

As for the breaks in breeding, I would see what the other's answer. My understanding is they will take breaks on their own. Some feel that they should be seperated, but to what stress level for the female.
Hopefully you will get some better feed back from the others. You may want to check with Pat, to see if she ever removed any of hers or if they take normal breaks. I would leave mine be.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

: Our new joey is 9 weeks old now and I was wondering when I should separate him form the parents? We plan on keeping him and introducing him to our adult female (Roscoe).
: Also, in a past posting I read that females should have a rest between liters. Is this true? Should she (Matilda) be removed from the cage or should the male (Foster) be removed? I would have thought that they would miss each other if I separated them. Please advise.

: Thanks!
