I have 3 pairs of gliders and 5 pairs of chinchillas and wouldn't advise it. I've been raising chins for 10 years and can say from experience that they are fearful of just about anything foreign to them. They can be curious, but when the object of their curiosity is as curious as they are, or makes sudden moves or noises, they get scared quick. I've heard that just the sound of a vacuum cleaner can give them a heart attack. Several ranchers/breeders I know play classical music to "soothe" their herds and keep them relaxed.

My gliders tend to be very agressive with animals that are foreign to them. Occassionally, one of my birds will land on one of their cages and they don't like it, not even alittle bit. They bark fiercly and nip at their feet until they fly away. God knows what their reaction to a chinchilla would be, but I would almost guarantee that the chin would be scared to death.
