: Our new joey is 9 weeks old now and I was wondering when I should separate him form the parents? We plan on keeping him and introducing him to our adult female (Roscoe). : Also, in a past posting I read that females should have a rest between liters. Is this true? Should she (Matilda) be removed from the cage or should the male (Foster) be removed? I would have thought that they would miss each other if I separated them. Please advise. : Thanks! We have left babies with their parents until they were full grown with no problems of any kind. We do not separate our breeders unless a problem comes up. We've only had to do it twice in five yrs, both times, the males were too rough with their females and hurt them. The females both recovered and were given new mates. The males were given new mates and there've been no more problems. They do take 'breeding breaks' on their own, sometimes for months at a time.
