Okay, so this is a generalization, but it in no way includes ALL people, kay? I think it's a good idea to warn parents off from getting their kids a sugar glider. Mainly because... kids interest's come nad go so quickly. Its just how a lot of kids are... I mean, if they want something cute and adorable and small and fuzzy, get a hamster. They are cheap, and only live about 2 years, so if the child gets tired of it, it wont be neglected for *too* long, ya know? And if they keep up with the hamster and clean it's cage at LEAST once a week, and feed it and work(well, kids can mow grasss and clean dishes...) to buy things for the hamster, then perhaps consider a glider. Having a glider is a lot different than I had expected. I love my glider, though. I had had some adjusting to do. Now Im crazy for gliders and want more.. so anyway. I hope this post made sense? Im not trying to say that a hamster and a glider are the same thing, cus they arent. Gliders aren't rodents. BUT hamsters can sleep in your pocket and be sweet, and they are playful pretty much whenever you want them to be....

: I was very dissapointed the other day. I was invited to a exotic animal zoo on Long Island to give a little talk about a few reptiles. I had my little sugarglider Church in my pocket. (The reptiles were in cages, and in no way could get to him)
: Church popped his head out of the pocket and all of the childrens eyes lit up. Questions started comeing at me left and right. "Where can I get one?", "How much are they?" ect.... Here is the dissapointing thing, after I gave an hour long speech about the time, late hours, years, feeding, vets, children ect... I was suprised to see that the parents still wanted to get them for there children. I did happen to talk most of them out of getting one, but there were a few people who just would not listen. There was only one many two people that I thought would make perfect glider parents. I was thinking about makeing a warning packet for people that ask me about them from now on. What do you guys think?
