He is my second glider. When I got him he was only about 3 or 4weeks OOP (too young in my opinion). For about the first 3 weeks he was crabbier than my fiancee when he's hungary, LOL. I allowed him to nip at me, it does not hurt that badly, it is just like a pinch. When I cupped him in my hand and held him against my chest, he would keep crabbing, but he quit after a couple of minuites. I take Gizmo with me whenever it is possible (he fits in my cleavage, most guys wouldn't be so crabby there). I also have a draw-string pouch (Crown-Royal bag) that fits around my neck. If I go to a festival or some all day activity, I carry him around under my shirt in the pouch (gives him more room). The bond is getting stronger every day. We have a little routine, I wake him up around 9pm, pet him for awhile until he is awake. He then runs all over the house and plays hide and seak with me. He is so cute, he barks at me sometimes. When I first wake him up, he is so happy to see me that he barks a couple of times, gives a cute little hiss than jumps on me. I usually go to bed around 11 or 12. I put him back in his cage so that he can eat (sometimes I go to bed because he is hiding too well, then he wakes me up in the middle of the night by jumping around making a lot of noise, usually barking....I am a very light sleeper....then I put him back in his cage). Then at about 6:30am, I wake up, go get him out of his cage (he gives me his good morning barking greeting) and we go into the bedroom for our cuddle time. We play for about an hour, then he starts to get tired. He loves to fall asleep under the covers by my feet (he loves to nibble my toes too). I am very consistant with our time together. He knows when it is time to cuddle or time to play. The bond is wonderful. I am looking forward to the future because every day we get closer. I want to get a female mate for him (her name will be "Mila", named after my first glider "Milo"). I'm excited about the kind of sillyness that having 2 of them chasing each other will create. Sorry, I got a little off the main subject, just like any proud mother does while talking about her kids :>) Just don't be afraid of the bite. She licks you so she is familiar with your scent. When you reach in to grab her, let her snif and lick first, then pick her up. Move slowly, think about how it is for little Pele, your big hand comming at her! She will trust you in time. Don't drop her if she bites, just grin and bare it if you can, then cup her against your body to calm her down. I do admit, Gizmo can bite pretty hard sometimes (when we are playing rough). He used to bite at me all the time, but once again, I just let him. He only gives me little love nibbles now. I wish you luck, let me know if you have any other questions. Cheri and Gizmo ~Q> : Could you write a little on how this went for you? What was her reaction at first? How old was she? What did you have to do? How bonded is she now?:)
