hey, I own ten now, and have had them for about three years. I love them very much, but they do require alot of time. Make sure that you have that time, or they will be unhappy. There are only 2 books that I have found on a Sugarglider, and were both very helpful. Make sure that you find out all you can know before getting one. Actually if you like to go out everyonce in a while in the evenings, which we all do, I would strongly suggest that you get two. owning one is ok, but be prepared to spend time with it always. They are used to living in groups of ten or more, and they will get lonely, when being in a cage. From being stressed they will get sick and die. I can give you info on the books, so you can find them. Just make sure that you are prepared in really wanting one. It happens alot that people get one and then they dont want it, or it gets sick and people like me end up with them. I am willing to help and give advice to you for whatever reason. I will do anything for those little guys. :) Make sure also that you select a vet that treats them, believe me they do get sick ocasionally, or something happens. When selecting one make sure that they know what thy are talking about. You cannot afford to have a vet that you think may know what it is doing, and mess up. It can cause alot of heartache for your glider, and that is that last thing that you want. I have had alot of people when talking to vets say that they want to study on Sugargliders, but dont give them that chance for there can be a bigger problem than what it is worth. Guess to narrow it down, do some research, and find out if there is a vet near you that treats sugargliders. Email me for further info, other wise I will be writing a book. I would love to help and walk you through in getting one and keeping it healthy. I have rescued way too many alreaty, but they are with me for the fact that I know they will live and get taken care of the way they should be. Hope to hear from you soon, and you have my mail address. Please write I would like to hear of your progress.
