When ours first wake up we let them stay in their cage for a while and they usually go in there. We have, or rather they chose not to use their nesting box or pouch as a restroom, but most of the time when they are out... the world is their toilet! :)
Believe me, there are far more larger concerns when deciding to get a glider as a pet. I would suggest that you and your father do alot of research first!
