There are a lot of dangers that are present when you use a leash and after carefully wieghing the pros and cons when I first purchased my gliders it was way too risky.
As far as your other questions, I would recommend that you hang a small cloth bag (one of mine is from a bottle of Crown Royal but Gizmo loves it) from the roof of the cage, your glider will get less possesive than if it were a nesting box. Unless you have had your home glider proofed it is not recommended to allow her free roam. There are way too many dangers like if the toilet seat is left up. Gliders can not swim and will drown if they fall in water. It is generally best to only let her run aroung one room that is "glider friendly".
