Subject: Mating

I have two gliders, a male and a female. The male is about one year seven months and the female is around seven or eight months. I have kept them in separate cages next to each other for the past six months because I was afraid he would hurt her since she was so small. I finally put them together in their new bigger cage about one week ago. Tonight he is trying to mate with her and she keeps crabbing. He really has a tight grip on her. I was wondering if he will hurt her? I have read that the male bites the female on the neck when they mate, so I am not sure if he is being overly aggressive or not. Should I separate them? I want babies, but I don't want her to be hurt! Any advice would be appreciated!
