Beware of PET stores!!!!! They are famous for lieing about the ages of the gliders they sell amoung other things. This is not to say that all pet store are alike, just make sure to ask a lot of questions! 5 months oop is not to late to bond, the only draw-back with this age is you are getting into the teen age and they can be a bit difficult and stuborn. Once this time has passed you will have a loving tame glider if you take the time and patients! I can't emphisise the patients enough!!!!
I have two females(I know this is what you are looking for)
who are now heading into the TERRIBLE TEENS ! I find that they are funny and amusing, but my Alpha female markes her turf REGULARLY this includes me. It doesn't smell bad.If you have a problem with pet potty then a sugar glider is not for you, they will go whereever and whenever they have to. Including on you or your visiting company.
I would suggest with a pet store to first find a vet who treats gliders, make sure the pet store allows you one free visit to a vet and a guarentee on your money if the animal is not what they represented.Ask for the name of the breeder. Watch how the animal behaves when handled by the pet store personel, what kind of conditions are they keeping the animal in. Is it understanding to the animals needs?
Good luck! It is always better to get an animal that doesn't need to be shipped.Shipping can be highly stressfull!

I just found a pet store near here that sells sugar gliders!! They are 5-6 months old. Is that too old or is that a good age? Thanks in advance!
