No - I don't think that I am "giving up" and yes, I am offended by your post. I have put a lot of time and money into purchasing and caring for these pets. The fact of the matter is that I do not believe that these two will ever make good pets and I think that they would be better with other gliders. I have given them plenty of love and attention - it has had no effect. You cannot say that ALL gliders will eventually make great pets - as with any wild animal species, some simply won't no matter how hard you try. I realized this when I got them. I don't think that they are "disposable" - I think I am trying to do what will ultimately be best for them. I despise anyone who may say that I am a "bad" pet owner - I am not. All of my animals are extremely well cared for. In addition, these are
animals that are very social - the two that I have would be much happier in a cage with other gliders (which by the way they will be). So, all in all, I will be happier and the gliders will be happier. I have arranged for them to go back to the breeder that I purchased them from. She will integrate them with her current breeders and we will all live happily ever after.
: I know this might start a fight, but don't you think
"giving up" on them after only a year is a bit harsh for
an animal that could live up to 10-15 years?
: What could they have done that is so bad that you would
give them up? What exactly did you try as far as bonding?
: I'm sorry, but posts like this really upset me!
Gliders are NOT disposable pets! But yet you are willing
to give them away for free because they aren't the sweet
cuddly pets you thought they would be?
: I sincerely hope that someone does rescue these little
girls and gives them the love and attention that they
(and all pets) deserve!
