I completely agree with you, Jane. When adopting an animal, you are taking on a serious responsibility. It's the same as having a child for a few years and then just "getting rid of it". A glider feels the pain of abandonment-- just as any animal does, just as a person does. People just don't think about what they're getting into when they adopt an animal. Cats, dogs, GLIDERS, they all live for about 15 years. That's a large portion of a lifetime, and they take a lot of dedication and TIME to take care of. Why spend the time to bond closely with the glider you're only going to give away in a year or so? It only makes it worse on the glider. Gliders are delicate creatures. You can't have a glider if you're not going to really bond with it. They can DIE from loneliness. However, if you're going to bond with a glider, you have to keep that commitment to be there with it forever, and not to pass it on to a new owner. You wouldn't pass a child on to a new set of parents-- so how could you pass a glider on to a new parent?
