EVERY licensed breeder must keep specific dated records of births, deaths and exchanges... If this person doesnt have the proper information for you... I would push the issue.
Most breeders are caring people... and there is a possibility that the baby may still 'need' Mom. See if the breeder can help you in any way... they've probably been in this situation before and 'hands-on' experience may be needed.
If not... Keep up what youre doing, get the little one checked by an exotic vet... keep an eye on its weight! The vet can give you a list of things to watch for (hopefully)... and reccommend a high quality nursing formula...
