I took my gliders (Didjeri and Pogo) to Florida from Baltimore and back last fall. I just kept them in their traveling pouch over my shoulder and under my blazer (making sure that there was no metal on the pouch or myself which might set off the buzzer at security). They were fine. Of course, I scheduled the flight during their sleeping hours (morning and afternoon). I made a collapsible cage which fit into a cardboard box that I checked into baggage. The gliders slept through the entire trip and no one suspected that I was carrying pets. Delta does allow pets as carry-ons as long as they the carrying case fits under the seat, but they do not allow for exotic pets and they charge $60 one way for the pet.
