Tiff, the only thing I could suggest, and I am just as guilty as the next guy here, is to take your glider in for regular check ups they are not that expensive that way, just to have them do fecal exams and make sure everything is running as it should. Parasites are funny things, they could just like us get them from just about anywhere, tree branches, from insects, other animals, unsanitary conditions, regular flys carry diseases fom place to place. It would be almost impossible as far as prevention, but to be able to catch it early, is the key.. Just like lice in humans you can catch that so unknowingly, the same goes for a glider, I had a woman email me about her son having lice, and was concerned as far as her glider is concerned. I spoke to Carolyn Macpearson regarding this and she said that gliders get a different kind of lice, but that doesn't mean that they won't go from person to glider and vice versa, a visit with the vet will help there. Please, everyone, visit your vets, really get to know them, be sure when they hear the word glider that they know what they are talking about, If not, do everything in your power to get them the right contacts to other glider knowledgable vets..I am sorry, it is very hard for me to think straight right now, I am so heartsick over all this. Tell people that are getting a new glider, no matter who they get it from, to first get a vet to check it out thouroghly..
