: Hey everyone-- : I was at Barnes and Noble today and saw a quarterly animal magazine with an issue this month that's all about gliders!! How wonderful-- right? I saw it and thought, "Wow, how great! I'll get it, just in case it has some good info I could use later on..." Well, I flipped through it a little, and it had ALLLL this great stuff about gliders....but it didn't mention the downsides!! I also saw a pet magazine that had a feature about "new breeds" of pets... one of which was the sugar glider. The info was in a box about 4 inches square with a picture. It had nothing about their special dietary needs, their social needs, problems someone might have with a glider as a pet, etc... neither of the publications did! Oh, and to top that off, the one with the very small bit of info on them had the price listed as "$75-85" !!! HA!! Add a "1" in front of those numbers and they'd be closer! ;) Anyway, it all made me kinda mad, because it's thing like this that cause so many gliders to be mistreated and abandoned. They make them look like a great, sweet little pet that's easy to care for. People get their information from sources that don't even have the REAL information they need to know before getting a glider!! What's wrong with these magazines?? They're practically encouraging glider mistreatment. I'm DEFINITELY going back tomorrow to get those magazines' addresses and write letters to the editors!! : --Heather well i agree with you.i heard a report on 20/20 the other night about exotic birds.no one knew what they were getting into. they didnt know that the bird they had may make a lot noice or anything at all.then the birds would be mistreated. put in dark closets.they would start to hurt them self's by picking at there feathers or flesh.it was horrible.and we cant let this happen to gliders. steve.
