What I would suggest is putting your male back in his old cage. Place them side by side for a while to let them get used to each other. Place a cloth in each of their nesting boxes. Switch the cloths, so that your female will have your male's scent on him.

After a few days, try putting the, together again (in your female's cage). But be sure to supervise them. If the problem arises again, repeat the process until it works.
