: I agree that shipping should be avoided if possible, if only because of the possible risks. but I also feel that the dangers are often exaggerated.
: Many airlines today ship animals in pressurized, temperature controlled environments. The real danger is if it is not a direct flight, so that should be avoided. My two personal experiences with shipping gliders were favorable, and the gliders showed no adverse effects (besides having their sleeping schedules a little behind!) Just try to be responsible about it -- take every precaution! ...just my opinion.

I think Susie is taking Marc's post as a personal attack and I don't think (although I really don't know) that it was meant that way. The point I think we all need to focus on (pointed out nicely by Marmalito) is that shipping really should be a very last resort and also done with a well researched organization. I didn't have my two babies shipped, but I did think about it because it was cheaper and faster that way. MY main concern is that people might ship their gliders (because its cheaper, faster, more convenient, or whatever) instead of taking time to go get them themselves. I'm sorry but I do think of it as a responsibility issue too. I drove almost four hours each way to get mine and would do it again if their was any chance of risking their safety by shipping them.
PS-I also wanted to thank the nice person (Sorry, I don't remember the name) who responded to my "Bonding with Two Gliders" message that everything was going to be all right with the bonding of me and my two babies. It is going great and your message was very kind and reassuring. Thanks again.
