I was also scratching my head on exactly what you meant. But, here's my thought:
Maybe it is a response to a stressful situation, too small cage, lonliness, disease. My vet told me that
gliders often try to hurt themselves in some way or do something totally odd if they're
in a "situation". Usually they rub off hair or eat thier feces, run circles obsessively, etc. Maybe there's something
that needs changing? Your situation sounds kindof serious, so I hope it changes soon!
