: Can raw peanuts go bad? I really need to know, because when buying raw peanuts they come in bulk. With that in mind, SGs are not to have more than one per day and so you would end up with the same batch of peanuts long after you puchased them.

: Here's why I ask:
: Today when I took my glider out to clean the cage in the afternoon, I gave her half of a raw peanut. She took it and begin munching away. After a few seconds, she dropped the peanut and began acting very strange on my shoulder. I placed her on a shelf to take a better look and to my worries I thought she was choking. This went on for about ten seconds and I'm scared to death of what might come next. Not knowing what's wrong with her I tried to calm her down by petting her. Then she started to stick her tongue REALLY far out and I can even feel her discomfort Gosh it looks so painful for her. Next she started to grab her tongue with her hands and started pulling and stroking. Gosh, what is going on! After a few minutes she stopped, but I can still sense that something is causing her discomfort. I am planning to take her to the vet tomorrow because she's got me WORRIED. I hope she is going to be fine until then. I don't think I can leave her alone even if it means not going out. As for the peanut that she dropped, I put it in a bag with hopes to find out if there is something wrong with it.

: Have any one ever had an experience like this? Please tell me what you think this might be?

Yup, they sure do. They get rancid especially in the
summer when it's humid. I freeze em and take em out as I
use em. Not only do they get rancid but wormy as well.
