yes, I am prepaired, and my use of the word "I want" and "ya right" have nothing to do with it. : Please look at the words you used. "I WANT" and "My parents THINK they are doing whats best" and "ya right". Your parents have already raised a child for 17 years and they have made many sacrifices. If someone was to ask you if you were ready to take on a newborn child for 15 years would you feel the same way? I tell everyone the gliders have the attention needs of a newborn (middle of the night feedings, play time, and barking), with the personality of a teenager (sometimes rebelious, demanding attention and always got to keep an eye on what they are doing). You think they are neat and cool but you really must look at the needs of the glider. are you prepared to stay up EVERY night till 3:00 in the am and play with it? are you willing to say no to your friends when they want to stay out late? are you willing and patient enough to go through a tough bonding process and maybe not leave your house for days on end till you bond well with it? who is going to pay the vet bill if something happens? It could cost easily over 200.00. are you prepared for this for 8-15 years? If you are responsible you will think of these things.. not for your folks but for the glider. I just posted a letter to Cat above.. here is a copy of that post..

I have a 15 year old daughter, We just now have 2 joeys in : the pouch with 2 adult gliders. We ask our daughter if she wanted to try to : bond with one of the joeys when they are ready. Her response was in my : opinion, very practical and responsible. She right out said no. Not because : she didn't love them because she does. She thinks they are great as long as : they are MY responsibility, but here are her reasons: : 1. They are too much responsibility for Me. : 2. I can't stay up late enough to play with them when it is their time to play. : 3. When I get a job I won't be able to be with them, school during the day : and work at night. : 4. When I get my drivers license, I will want to be out with my friends. : 5. I am too young to take care of a baby, I want to have fun, do things and go : places. : 6. What would I do with it when I go skating, swimming, horseback riding, go : to the movies, and to the mall? : She decided that she will stay with rats. They play when she wants to play. : Be responsible think about her reasons.. then think if it would be fair for a : glider.. : : : I want to get a sugar glider and have researched them well, but my parents say I can't get one and just say its too much trouble, I'm 17 and think I can handle it but they think they are doing what's best (ya right) : : How do I convince them?
