well, I don't have all the answers but I will tell you what I do. I have two little sping hooks I got from Klubertanz for like 20 cents each for the door. yuo attach them to the door with j-clips and then they latch to the other side of the wire and are under spring tension to hold shut. as for the food cups I got mine also at petsmart. they are bird food cups but they just hang off the wire on the sides nice and simple. Never yet had a problem with them. hope this helps some
