I have experience in this area. Recently a glider was brought back to me. Her name is Sasha. She had HLP and was so weak that she couldn't even hold herself up to drink from a dish let alone try to eat anything. I convinced the lady that brought her to me to take her to the emergency vets. She was seizuring by the time that she got her there. They gave her an IM (in the muscle) and a sub-q (under the skin) injection of calcium. One milligram per kilogram of body weight. She brought her back to me to care for her until she was well. The vet had also prepared a syringe with another injection of calcium to be given sub-q the following day. I followed this treatment with calcium gluconate-obtained from my vet-mixed into some mango nectar. I mix it 1.0cc's in 300cc's of nectar. I held her over the dish every 45 min. to an hour to allow her to drink and I started her on a diet of the accu-feed from BPP. By the third day she was strong enough to drink from a dish on her own. It took about three weeks for her to completely recover, but recover she has.
