One day not long after I got my two I was talking to Bourbon on the phone and I asked her why my gliders always ran around on the floor. I figured they would like to be up high considering they live in trees in the wild. She asked me if I had their toys on the bottom of their cage. Well, she could tell by my silence that I did. I confessed I had their A-frame toy with bells on the bottom of the cage. I took it out and put it on top of my wall unit/headboard... they love it up there and it really helped for "gliding practice"!
I went and got a bird bowl also because they kept knocking their bowls over too. Great investment!
Another thing (has nothing to do with floor gliders) is that mine loved to play in my closet. This made me nervous because I didn't want any "surprises" when I'd get my clothes out. I took a couple of plastic hangers and put them up high in their cage. They love to swing on them and that way they can feel like their in the closet... sort of! hehehe
