i think most people who are allergic to animals are allergic to their saliva, which (mostly cats) use to clean their fur - that is why more people are allergic to cats than to dogs.....

with that said, i am quite allergic to my cat - however, not to my dog or my sugar glider.

i don't know if the same will go for your fiance - but i personally doubt that simply living in the same apartment/house/whatever as a sugar glider will cause much of an allergic reaction, if any.
