recently my mothers friend decided to do something about the squirrels living in her attic. they had lived there for at least two years that she knows of and couldnt stand the sound of them running around up there. finally, about a month ago, she heard a noise by her air conditioning and one feel out into her living room. she watched it scurry back into a vent. so she called animal control and they came to take care of it. when they saw the families, they told her that these werent squirrels but sugar gliders. apparently someone who either lived there before or maybe someone in the neighborhood either let a pair go or they got loose but this woman knows they were in her attic at least 2 years. when i heard this story i called the towns animal control and they couldnt tell me much information. they said that there were eight gliders that they caught and that all were pretty healthy. they also said that these animals were born and living as wild animals here in nj and could not be adopted for a pet. they were aware that gliders are not naturally natives of nj but since they have survived for so long that one option they have is to let them go again!!!after a while the woman could no longer tak to me and hung up. i am trying to get rid of my glider now because i do not have the time for him so i couldne even offer to adopt these wild ones even if it were an option. i just thought you glider lovers would like to know how well these little guys adapted living in an attic with no fruit or vegetables for at least 2 years and throughout the freezing winters!!
