I go by weeks after they open their eyes. Opening of the eyes is a significant development in the babies lives and that is the earliest they will be starting to take in the big world around them. I don't remove the babies until 6-10 weeks after their eyes open. They also must indicate that they are eating a VARIETY of solid foods on their own and are tasting everything offered. If weaned too young when they have only tried 1 or 2 foods the babies sometimes can become "picky eaters" and introducing new foods can become somewhat of a chore. This is just from my personal experience but I believe that it makes sense from a biological standpoint. This is something that someone who is thinking about getting a glider should consider and ask the breeder about. Best Wishes! Raechel
: So long as the baby glider is eating and drinking well on it's own, it is ready for a new home. That may be as early as 6 weeks if it is like one of my babies, or as is usual it may be 8 weeks oop or older. The main point is: Is it eating and drinking well on its own?
