Subject: Dusk till dawn

I recently installed a timer for the light in the room my glider´s cage is because here in Germany the days become very short in the winter and get longer during summer (don´t know how to describe this properly in English).
Because they come from an equatorial country, I figured this change between seasons could cause them avoidable stress. So now the light turns on at about 6am and turns out around 6pm.
Now I´m wondering: Do they maybe need the twilight during dawn or dusk?
Anyone out there who also uses "timed light"?
(I know they need a certain amount of daylight to process vitamin D but I take them out for about an hour during daytime to play.)
