If you're not too bad, you can pull off the jumping legs(the big ones on the back) and then they just run around rather than jumping. I pinched their legs off through the plastic bag. Then I discovered freezing. I've never had any problem with the bugs exploding and I get some big juicy ones too. Did all the bugs do it or just a few? It was probally just the insides and I don't think it would hurt to feed it to them.
