When I got my first glider, I was paranoid about exposing him to too much light. When I got my 2nd glider, I asked the breeder about it, because I was never able to find a good answer. The breeder said they can take most household light, just never direct sunlight. At the time, the breeder was sitting under a shady tree playing with a pair of babies. This breeder has beautiful, tame healthy gliders. So now, my first glider, after being in the dark mostly, he hates lit rooms. My 2nd glider has absolutely no problem with household lights. So, I think if you keep your glider in the dark, you will always have a problem.
I play with mine in our living room, with one large lamp in the corner. As for time spent together while sleeping, it REALLY helps with bonding, but I personally think they still NEED the time when they are awake. I think the 2 hour a day thing should be 2 hours spent with them while awake.
