Parrots and gliders nutritional needs are completely different. Gliders need a low fat, high protein diet. Nuts and seeds are very high in fat and should only be given as an occasional snack. You also should do a little more research on which fruits and veggies have the best nutritional value for gliders. You should also keep in mind that gliders need a 2:1 calcium/phosphorus level in order for their bodies to process calcium. If this balance is off their bones can become very brittle and even the slightest wrong move can cause broken bones. Are you feeding insects? In the wild, gliders would eat insects as a main part of their det...NOT fruit. Feeding insects provide protein and other things that there is no way for us to reproduce a substitute for. Also, what is reptivite? I'm assuming it's a calcium suppliment but does it have phosporus? Vitamin d? I use and strongly recommend Repcal with the pink label. It's phosporus free with Vit D. You could be feeding just the right about of calcium but if there is too much phosphrus int the diet they can't utilize the calcium to strengthen bones. (Wendi, this next part is not directed at you personally....but to the general public who might be reading this) I am usually pretty quiet on the bbs but here lately people seem to be going off and using strange diets out of the blue and not doing research to know what's best for their gliders. 99% of glider illnesses are diet related and keeping a healthy glider is up to you. They depend on you 100% to take care of them and if you are unwilling to research and know what is best for your glider then maybe it's best that you find a home for him where someone can and will. Research just can not be stressed enough. Tiffani
