Just to let you know, I used to own 2 boas, and kept them in the same room as my glider cage. I bought a special cage for the boas, it was made of incredibly strong black fabric, and zipped shut. Amazingly easy to clean too. Its a new style snake cage, it is great! They could not and did not ever escape. Buying a special cage for the snakes is worth the lives of your sugar gliders, and the one I'm talking about is not expensive. If you want one of these special cages and your local pet store doesn't have them, email me and I'll give you info about it. If anything, take the suggestion already given about putting something heavy on the existing snake cage lid.
My gliders never cared about these snakes. They did like crawling on the snake cage sometimes, I think the smell made them curious. They never tried to chew it or anything. 2 years my gliders and snakes lived in one room. Never did they meet.
