Dave, of course anything is possible, but I doubt your temps
of 80+ for a few hours would have killed them. Our glider room
got pretty hot before we put the AC in and when we started
finding a few out of their nests during the day, we went ahead
and put the AC in. None died (we have 34 pairs). I also believe
they ingested something, somehow. Do you live in a house or
apt. that has been exterminated? If they could have gotten a
roach or whatever that had insecticide on/in it that might
have caused something. It would seem strange that they both
died of a disease or birth defect at the same time. Could they
have eaten seeds from fruits that are toxic. There are lists
of toxic seeds, plants, flowers etc. on the net. Don't know
right off hand where, but I know they're there.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish you were close enough
to us that I could replace your babies. Email me privately
if you are in TX within driving range and are interested in
replacements, free or close to it.
Pat
