Sugar gliders are very high maintinance requiring much time and patience. They are indeed great pets but I strongly suggest that you and your mom do much research before purchasing a glider. The book in the pet store are not accurate about many things. Gliders have not been captive in the united states very long (only a few years) so many 'experts' are still studying how to best care for them. The glider diet has been a very hot topic. Gliders need to eat a balanced diet of protiens and fresh fruit and vegetables (I won't get into the specifics of that, all the info is on Bourbons web page). Also, gliders can become very depressed if left alone for many hours. If you and your mom travel often or work long hours and only have time here and there for a pet, a glider is not for you. Gliders are for those of us with no life!!Hee hee (only a glider owner would understand that). I am glad that you decided to research before buying a glider. Too many people buy gliders and then find out how much time and work they require and end up abandoning them. Good luck. : My mom saw a sugar glider when we were in a pet store and really seemed to like it. Now everytime we go back she has to check them out. She seems very interested in having one, but is still hesitant, so I thought I would get some information about them for her. So any information would be great!!!
