: : I adopted two male sugar gliders a couple of months ago. I have no idea about their history or their ages. I had to take one if them to my veterinarian as his tail area was extremely wet and his abdomen was severely bloated. The Dr. took xrays and aspirated some of the fluid. I am now waiting on bloodwork results. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this in the past. (The vet seems to think it might be liver or heart probs.)

: I do know of a similar situation where a lady lost a couple of gliders. They had cirrosis of the liver from too much iron in the water. I use spring water for my gliders for this reason. She was using her well water thinking that it would be safer than tap water. Please do post the results of the test here for all of us to benefit from.

I got the bloodwork results back this morning, everything looked fine. So, the vet diagnosed congestive heart failure. Looks like I am going to have to medicate him twice a day and try to restrict his activity (that will be a trick).
